Au Pair & FSJ Programme - Live and Work in Germany

A safe, legal, and structured pathway to Germany for young Gambians aged 18 – 27.

Introduction

The Au Pair and Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ) programmes offer young Gambians a unique opportunity to live with a German host family, experience German culture, improve their language skills, and build a foundation for their future in Europe — all through a fully legal and officially recognised pathway.

GECJMDA has been facilitating these placements for several years, connecting Gambian candidates with verified German host families and organisations. We guide you through every step of the process — from application to departure and beyond.

What is Au Pair?

An Au Pair lives with a host family in Germany and supports the family with childcare and light household tasks. In return, the host family provides free accommodation, meals, and a monthly pocket allowance.

What is the FSJ (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr)?

The Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (Voluntary Social Year) allows young people to volunteer in German hospitals, schools, social organisations, and care facilities for 6 – 18 months while gaining work experience and improving their German.

Important Notice

Visa is a process – not a deal. GECJMDA will never ask you to pay for a ‘ticket’ or ‘job placement’ upfront. All our placements follow official German legal procedures. If someone claiming to represent us asks you for money outside our official channels, it is a scam. Contact us directly to verify.
